Steampunk Abyss Weekend Update 3


This update is a long time coming. Took a few days off this last week to get some much needed R&R. But jumping back into the fray afterward resulted in a really productive week. This update finishes off the basic function of the last byte set to customize your weapons. In that regard all that's left is adding content. For the next little while I will be focusing on rebalancing combat. Anyone else remember the Minecraft combat update? Hopefully this will result in less drama. Plan is to make it faster paced. This will include new enemies, stronger shields, quicker bullets, and much more. Maybe a return of the reworked boss? 

The Good:

  • Added ability bytes! Explosive Bullets, Split, and Flashback currently available to play with.
  • Basic tutorial! Will be adding story dialog and transition at a later date.
  • Starting resources. To get players playing faster, basic bytes will be made available upon completion of the tutorial.
  • Added tutorial sound track!
  •  Updated sprites for Doors, Locked Doors, and some byte icons.
  • Map optimized for better performance.
  • Bullets fired near walls updated to reduce chance of players accidently shooting the wall.
  • Bullets travel far shorter into walls on spawn.
  • Fixed glitch that prevented players from moving after using Workbench and Shop.
  • Slightly reduced tower and turret spawns.
  • Fade transition between rooms


The Bad:

  • No indicator for currently equipped bytes.
  • Bytes can't all be unequipped.
  • Certain bytes crash if clicked on twice to equip.
  • No story for tutorial or story transitions from the tutorial.

The Ugly:

  • Rubble sprite place holder. We actually have a sprite ready but was not ready for this build.
  • More console placeholder sprites.
  • Ability Byte icon placeholder sprites.
  • Tutorial sprite doesn't hold a gun yet.
